The 2017 Pommard Pezerolles 1er Cru has an intensely stemmy nose that occludes the fruit and terroir expression. For some reason, it reminds me stylistically of a Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot more than a Pommard. The medium-bodied palate shows sappy red berry fruit and fine delineation. Nicely proportioned, with a touch of white pepper on the finish. Fine, if just a little cloying. Closure is Diam 5. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
