The 2018 Vino Bianco Caravan Petrol is a deep golden, verging on orangish hue, with a unique yet enticing bouquet that mixes tangerine and grapefruit with crystallized ginger and savory herbs. This is soft and enveloping upon entry; yet citrus-derived tension quickly builds, nicely offset by pleasantly sweet notes of pear and melon. It’s long and incredibly fresh, leaving a sensation that’s remarkably juicy and pleasing to the senses, as an air of flinty crushed rock and perfumed florals fade. Frankly, it’s hard not to pour a glass to drink instead of taste. The Caravan Petrol is produced using a field blend of Carricante, Catarratto, Minnella and Pizzutella that’s fermented and refined in a single 500-liter chestnut barrel for nine months.
