Tasting notes
Saturated ruby. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe dark berries, kirsch, incense, tobacco and potpourri; olive and exotic spice nuances emerge with air. Alluringly sweet black and blue fruit, spicecake and violet pastille flavors show sharp delineation and are supported by a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes extremely long and spicy, showing a smoky mineral quality and youthfully gripping tannins.

100% Syrah. Aged for 18 months in oak (50% new). Barrel sample. Tasted blind. Prominent spicy oak on the nose mingled with sweet blueberry fruit and smoked notes. Plenty of zippy freshness here throughout the palate with a lovely black-pepper and herbal note beneath the generous fruit core. Nice fine tannins that are surprisingly integrated already. (AC)
