Score 15.5/20 · Drink 2017-2019, Tamlyn Currin, jancisrobinson.com, Jul 2017

100% Malbec from 15-year-old estate vines on clay/gravel parcels situated on the second terrace of the Lot River in Cahors. Manual selection in vineyard and winery. Following crushing, cold maceration for five days. Alcoholic fermentation begins under a constant temperature of 28 °C. Two to three weeks’ maceration. Aged in stainless steel for 12 months before bottling. No oak. 120,000 bottles. Plums and baked-blueberry-muffin aromas. Generous berry-pie sweetness on the palate but with a goodly dollop of mouth-zipping acidity. A streak of green that becomes a little more pronounced on the finish. As with the Purple, the alcohol seems pretty noticeable. Even a little hot, in this case. (TC)
