The 2014 Chablis 1Er Cru Fourchaume showed potential last year and revisiting the wine after 12 months, it has developed nicely. It has a slightly more exotic bouquet than its peers, thanks to persimmon and passion fruit notes complementing the green apple and mineral aromas. It now has the complexity it was missing before. The palate is fresh and vibrant, nice and chalky in texture, with commendable tension and showing great energy towards the finish. This is a fine Fourchaume that exploits the vintage to the fullest. Give it another year in bottle.

More elegant on the nose than the straight Chablis if less immediately fruity. Touch of grapefruit here. Intense and very tightly wound on the palate. Terrific length. GV (JH)

Pale yellow. Aromas of yellow peach, anise and mint, plus subtle suggestions of lavender and brown spices. Much richer and broader than the village wine but maintains a light touch on the palate, with its yellow fruit and spice flavors showing sneaky intensity. Piquant acidity frames and extends the fruit but needs some time to soften.

Slightly darker straw-yellow than the Vaillons. The nose began a touch swampy, then cleared to reveal slightly bruised apple and pear with a hint of exotic mango. Bigger and sweeter than the Vaillons but without the same freshness and detail. More spicy than fruit in the mouth.
