Opaque violet. Floral aromas of cherry pit and blackberry, with a smoky quality gaining strength with aeration. Juicy and precise, with gently sweet dark fruit flavors supported by a solid spine of acidity. A meaty note comes up on the slightly gritty finish.

Meaty and smoky, the 2009 Zaca Mesa Syrah is a classic Syrah (99% Syrah and 1% Viognier aged 16 months in 20% new French oak) with copious cherry, plum, licorice, and char, medium+ body, and a delicious, supple, and textured mouth feel. Upfront and already delish, this will be a crowd pleaser over the coming handful of years.
