Score 91/100 · Drink 2016-2022, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2016

(vinified with 50% whole clusters): Good medium red. Expressive aromas and flavors of redcurrant, stewed tomato and balsamic black olive. Broad, generous, seamless and sweet; mature yet still fresh. Not at all overextracted. Finishes with even tannins and a strong repeating balsamic quality. This wine started out thin and elegant, then gained in weight, sweetness and power after the malolactic fermentation and with aging, noted Rossignol. He told me he was still carrying out a pre-fermentation cold maceration in 2002 (5 days at 15 degrees C), but that this was the first vintage in which he started to cut back on pigeage .
