Score 90/100 · Drink 2000, Robert Parker, Dec 1992

The biggest, most majestic of Pothier's 1990s is unquestionably the 1990 Pommard-Rugiens. It possesses a more saturated color than the other offerings, a larger and broader aromatic and flavor profile, and a formidably long, chewy, concentrated finish. It is a blockbuster, but backward and tannic. When I consider the wine's enormous weight and richness, I do not see it reaching full maturity before the turn of the century. Pothier's 1990s are intensely rich, tannic, exceptionally well-endowed wines with the potential to last 15-25 or more years. In fact, I suspect all my scores will seem unkind when these wines reach full maturity. Various American importers.
