Tasting notes
The 2017 El Toro is a blend of 86% Garnacha (a specific clone from Spain), with 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Syrah. Pale to medium ruby, it explodes from the glass with raspberry, strawberry and pomegranate jam scents with touches of blood orange, potpourri, dusty earth, tree bark and Angostura bitters. The palate is medium-bodied, silky and earthy, with a very finely grained frame and juicy freshness to lift the long, pleasantly bitters-laced finish.

The 2017 El Toro is an interesting blend of 86% Garnacha (from James Berry Vineyard), 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Syrah that was brought up in new barrels. It offers a smoking good bouquet of kirsch liqueur and blackberry-like fruits interwoven with notions of ground herbs, pepper, and hints of meatiness. With integrated oak, medium to full body, considerable elegance and purity, it’s another masterpiece from winemaker Guillaume Fabre.
