The 2017 Pinot Noir Hangmen & Scribes also leans toward the dark fruited, salty, briny end of the spectrum and is classic Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir. Nicely balanced and textured, with ripe tannins and a powerful, mouthfilling style, drink it over the coming 5-7 years.

Coming from Bentrock vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills, planted to clones 667 and 777, the 2017 Pinot Noir Hangman & Scribes was aged for 14 months in 100% new French oak. Medium to deep ruby-purple in color, it slides seductively out of the glass with wafts of Morello cherries, dark chocolate, pomegranate and boysenberries with touches of fragrant earth, fallen leaves, bouquet garni and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, the red and black fruit layers are charged with fantastic energy, supported by fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing on a lingering mineral note. 204 cases were made.
