Score 87-89/100 · Drink 2000, Robert Parker, Aug 2000
The 1997 Amarone Campo Casalin, a single-vineyard selection, reveals sweet, ripe, nearly overripe blackberry and cherry fruit with a kirsch liqueur characteristic. Notes of truffles, damp forest, asphalt, and rose petals also emerge. The wine was aged in both foudres and small French casks. Full-bodied, layered, and rich, this unbottled example should come close to being outstanding when released later this year. Importer: Steven Berardi Selections, Elizabeth Imports, Denver, CO; tel.
