Tasting notes
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve contains traces of Cabernet Franc (3%), Malbec (2%) and Petit Verdot (3%). Earthy and cedary, with modest cassis and cherry fruit, it's full-bodied, creamy and plush, with a soft, supple finish.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Stone Crib Vineyard is an attractive, mid-weight wine. Dark cherry, spice, plum, mocha and tobacco are nicely pushed forward. This is a relatively restrained style for Rutherford, but there is good underlying structure. Floral accents perk up the finish. I would give this a few years in bottle to soften.
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Heir Apparent Reserve checks in as a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec, and the rest Cabernet Franc. Its dense purple color is followed by a solid bouquet of earthy black and blue fruits, tobacco leaf, spice, and sous bois. Rich and full-bodied, with a rounded mouthfeel and texture, bright tannins, and a good finish, it shows the beautiful freshness and elegance of this vintage and builds nicely with time in the glass. It’s certainly an outstanding wine, and while I think it’s drinking terrific today, I have no doubt it will evolve for 10-15 years.
