Hazy medium red. Rich, ripe aromas of dark raspberry, mocha and espresso. Rich, round and creamy if a bit chunky, with ripe dark berry tones. The sweet, dense, thick finish could use a bit more lift and vivacity.

The winery’s red debut, the 2002 Pinot Noir Estate Grown, is top-notch. Waxy black cherries dominate its boisterous aromatics. On the palate, this plush, supple, seamless wine regales the taster with oodles of dark cherries, blackberries, and blueberries. Its plush, hedonistic fruit lingers in its long, angle-free finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2010. Tel. (503) 612-2020 www.stollervineyards.com
