Score 88/100 · Drink 2010, Robert Parker, Jan 2000

The dark ruby/purple-colored 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon displays an excellent black currant, dried Provencal herb, toasty oak, and sweet black fruit-scented nose. The wine possesses tremendous fruit, medium to full body, low acidity, and a soft, succulent texture. It is a delicious Cabernet to drink over the next 7-10 years. Smart buyers in search of wines with an excellent quality/price rapport have been seeking out Chateau Souverain's offerings for a number of years. The current and up-coming releases continue to offer "real" wine drinkers tasty choices. ($20; release date 3/00) Tel. (707) 433-8281; Fax (707) 433-5174
