Tasting notes
One of the highlights in this range, the 2015 Zinfandel exudes varietal character in its dark red and purplish plummy fruit. Aromatic, plush and silky, with a very long finish, it hits all the right notes. A dollop of Petite Sirah rounds out the blend. This is a gorgeous wine from Rusack's estate vineyard in Ballard Canyon.

Composed of 91% Zinfandel and 9% Petite Sirah, the 2015 Zinfandel has a medium garnet-purple color and gregarious nose of baked raspberries, blueberry pie and baking spices with touches of potpourri, Christmas cake and rose hip tea. Medium-bodied and fairly understated for a Zinfandel, it gives mouthfilling red and blue fruit preserves with a chewy backbone and pleasantly tart acid line, finishing long.
Spice-box, bramble and cigar notes, with lots of bramble red and blue fruits, emerge from the 2015 Zinfandel. It's supple, sweetly fruited and enjoyable, although a touch one-dimensional.
