Tasting notes
(fermented in small stainless steel tanks and aged for six months in used French oak barriques ) Youthful purple. Perfumed black and blue fruit, licorice and pipe tobacco aromas show very good clarity and pick up a suggestion of candied licorice with air. Broad, appealingly sweet and sappy on the palate, offering juicy blackberry and cherry flavors that are lifted by a spine of tangy acidity. Dusty, slow-building tannins lend shape and grip to the finish, which lingers with strong, spice-driven tenacity.

The 2015 Rio Madre Graciano is the red version of this and is 100% Graciano aged about ten months in French oak prior to being bottled. It is a large-production cuvée coming from the chalky alluvial soils of their 49 acres of vineyards. Deep ruby/purple with licorice and dark berry fruit in abundance, this lush, ripe, straightforward wine is mouthfilling and rich. Drink over the next 2-3 years
