There is also a 2014 Palma Carola Red Blend that replaces a red blend they used to call after the estate from where they source the grapes, but it was a confusing name. They named this wine after the grandmother of the current generation in the winery. This was produced with 50% Malbec, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot from Agrelo, and it fermented in rolling barrels after a four-day cold soak with dry ice. It matured in French oak barrels, 50% of them new, for 16 to 18 months. This feels quite ripe and showy, more exuberant and somewhat marked by the élevage, something I noticed that was quite different between the 2014s and 2015s. The palate is quite powerful, with structure and plenty of tannins, in need of food. 6,000 bottles were filled in November 2018.
