Coming solely from his own grapes in Ambonnay and Bouzy, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Shaman 22 Brut Nature sports a bright yellow/copper color. It offers plenty of richness along with purity and tension, featuring black fruit, black cherries, ripe citrus, grapefruit, and a chalky texture with length. The wine shows intensity, power, and a salty structure. It will be best enjoyed from 2025 to 2040.

Stunning nose of yeasty raisin and candied citrus bread straight from the oven. Also a whole room filled with dried flowers. A generous wine but radically clean, straight and dry, with a very long, delicately salty and flinty finish. 81% pinot noir and 19% chardonnay, all from Ambonnay. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold.

The NV Champagne Shaman 18 is 75% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay, fermented and aged in barrel, with no additional sulfur or dosage. It pours a pale straw with hints of copper, and the nose is fresh and aromatic with ripe red plum and some tertiary aromas of wet earth and hay. The palate is dry, with an energetic mousse that has a slightly wild and natural feel, with ripe black cherry and toast, and a fairly long finish. This is a style that can be well served at the table. Drink 2022-2030.

75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. Disgorged September 2021. No added sulphites. Another wine with a great back label! Very pale. Loose, open nose – decidedly yeasty. A very distinctive style with some light astringency on the end. (JR)
