Score 94/100 · Drink 2024-2040, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2024

The 2015 Pinot Noir Durant Vineyard comes from a warm vintage similar to 2014 but with thicker skins and more density in terms of fruit and structure. By this time, around 70% of the fruit was maturing in 500-liter puncheons rather than barriques. Layered and alluring, its red cherry and cranberry fruit are accented by wafts of woodsmoke, tobacco, forest floor, rooibos tea and blood orange. The medium-bodied palate is seamlessly balanced. Its concentrated core of nuanced fruit is structured by finely chalky tannins and juicy acidity, and it has a long, layered finish. It’s just beginning to hit its stride.

Light bright red. A highly perfumed bouquet displays scents of fresh raspberry, cherry and exotic spices, and a sexy floral nuance builds in the glass. Sweet and seamless on the palate, offering spice-tinged bitter cherry, red berry and candied rose flavors that show impressively sharp delineation. Takes a sweeter turn on a gently tannic, incisive finish that hangs on with strong, spicy tenacity. This vineyard, which was first planted in 1973, is quite old by Willamette Valley standards. (50% whole clusters; no new oak)
