The only Zinfandel I was able to taste from this estate, the 2013 Zinfandel Mancini Ranch (there’s some Carignan, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet in the blend) sports a deeper ruby color to go with outstanding notes of blackberries, black cherries, roasted herbs, and saddle leather, with more and more spice developing with time in the glass. Coming from sandy soils and vines planted in 1922, aged 11 months in French oak, this medium-bodied, elegant, classic Zinfandel can be drunk any time over the coming decade.
