Tasting notes
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Fortitude is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is the debut of this small cuvée of 221 cases, sourced from their favorite vineyard sites and micro-climates. It was aged 22 months in 100% new French oak and is a backward, rather closed and formidable Cabernet Sauvignon that probably has quite an upside to it, but at present it is tight and forebodingly primordial. Inky purple-colored and dense, blackcurrant and black cherry fruit as well as some graphite and spice are present, but the wine shuts down in the mouth, although it is clearly full-bodied, powerful, deep and capable of 30 or more years of cellaring. This wine is for the very patient.

Soft and voluptuous, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Fortitude is an excellent choice for near and medium-term drinking. Crème de cassis, lavender, smoke, licorice, black cherry and sweet French oak run through this bold, racy Cabernet Sauvignon from Provenance.
