Tasting notes
The 2016 Petite Sirah Phase V is a step up from the 2015 tasted alongside it. Crème de cassis, spice, dark chocolate menthol, licorice and lavender are all beautifully delineated. The 2016 is powerful and explosive, as all these wines are, and yet there is a good bit of aromatic nuance to play off the dense, rich fruit.

Aged in 80% new 400-liter French oak barrels for 28 months, the 2016 Petite Sirah Phase V is opaque garnet-purple colored and opens with notions of tar and tires with a core of crushed black berries and black raspberries with hints of mossy bark, tilled soil and truffles. Full-bodied and with full-throttle black fruits in the mouth, it has a firm, chewy texture and lovely freshness, finishing long and earthy. To be released in March 2019.
