Score 89/100 · Drink 2003-2006, Robert Parker, Oct 2003
The dark ruby-colored 2001 Zinfandel Pato Ranch (no shy wine at 15.9% alcohol) exhibits a big nose of cranberries, sweet and sour cherries, and balsam wood. High alcohol provides plenty of glycerin, density, and richness. This full-bodied, straightforward but deliciously succulent, fruit-driven Zinfandel will drink well for 2-3 years. Tel. (707) 963-8840

Medium ruby-red. Exotic, porty aromas of black fruits, chocolate and Kahlua. Superripe and sweet; an exotic, huge fruit bomb with just enough acidity to keep its thick flavors firm and fresh. Boasts stronger fruit than the 2000 example. Long and chocolatey on the back, with lush tannins.
