Tasting notes
A blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cão, Tinta Amarela. RS 98 g/l. Still remarkably red in colour, not really tawny yet but with a bricky rim. More complex than the 10 Year Old, with a wider range of entangled flavours. Still the dried fruits but also something a bit leathery. Their back label mentions butterscotch and I would never have come up with that but I can see what they mean. Smooth, still firm but nicely rounded and harmonious. (JH)

The NV 20 Year Old Tawny was bottled with a bar top cork in 2013. It comes in at 111.6 grams per liter of residual sugar. A big mouthful, this is a 20 that first coats the palate and then ends with silky texture and concentrated flavor. Very graceful, it is not as impressive in terms of mid-palate density, but it is more than respectable. It shows fine complexity, appropriate to its age category. The finish seals the deal, more lingering and gripping than I expected from the first taste. It is another delicious Tawny from the Taylor Fladgate group this issue, so dig in.
More closed than the 10 year old. Has a varnished texture. Vanilla and cream – almost Rutherglen in style? Loads of nutty, smoky complexity on the finish. Excellent length – definitely a step up from the 10 year old. (RH)
112g/l RS, 4.6g/l TA. Quite dense on the nose, plum and date and some subtle spicing. (RH)
