Score 91/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2012
Bright full red. Sexy, perfumed aromas of raspberry, clove, fennel and gunflint. Broad, sweet and seamless, with good energy to the very ripe red berry, plum and spice flavors. Finishes quite broad, with lingering red fruits. Winemaker James Hall pointed out that his 2009 pinots generally showed a blacker fruit character than the cooler-season 2010s.
