Tasting notes
The 2019 Chardonnay Radian Vineyard is another fabulous wine in this range from Hartford. Lemon confit, spice, crushed rocks and exotic tropical notes all meld together. This rugged, exposed site in the Sta. Rita Hills yields small berries and wines with real textural depth and nuance. The Radian is so distinctive, but, then again, so is this Sta. Rita Hills site.

The 2019 Chardonnay Radian Vineyard is a tiny production release and was brought up in 100% French oak. It has a gorgeous bouquet of caramelized orchard fruits, honeyed flowers, almond paste, and chalky minerality. Deep, rich, and concentrated on the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, has terrific balance, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's another stunning wine from this estate.
The 2019 Chardonnay Radian Vineyard was barrel fermented and matured in 22% new French oak for 14 months. Youthfully shy on the nose to begin, it opens slowly to spring blossoms, quince and white peaches. Medium-bodied and silky, it slowly unfurls its rich, ripe citrus fruits and floral layers, with seamless freshness and a touch of texture that draws out the long finish. It deserves another 2-3 years in bottle to unwind. 155 cases were made.
