Score 96/100 · Drink 2006-2015, Pierre Rovani, Apr 2003

One of the wines of the vintage, Maison Henri Boillot's 2001 Corton-Charlemagne explodes from the glass with talcum powder, flowers, and ripe apples. Jam-packed with minerals, spices, poached pears, candied apples, acacia blossoms, and gravel, it appears to be holding even more stuffing in reserve. A wine of exceptional power, density, breadth, intensity, and concentration, it also reveals a stunning finish, lasting well over 45 seconds. This prodigious Corton-Charlemagne should be cellared for at least 3 years. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2015. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083
