Medium red. Expressive aromas of redcurrant, iron and leather. Supple, fat and lush, with good stuffing for village wine. Not cooked but just this side of ponderous, with modest nuance. Finishes with building tannins.

Bright ruby-red. Pretty aromas of black fruits and violets, with only a faint roasted character. Supple on entry, then a bit muscular for Volnay villages But fruitier, fresher and longer than the Beaune, with a less pronounced chocolatey character and more life in the mouth. Finishes with firm tannins.
