2004 Jeff Cohn Cellars Syrah Ventana Vineyard

Deep ruby-red. Wild nose combines dark raspberry, gunflint, smoked meat, minerals and beefsteak tomato. Sweet, lush and smoky, with a saline character adding interest to the smoke and mineral flavors.Very ripe (the label says 15.5%) but not over the top. This couldn't be anything but syrah. Still, I'd like to have seen a bit more mid-palate fruit.
