Tasting notes
A lot of wild fennel grows in the vineyard that produces the 2022 Pinot Noir Winery Block, and it certainly takes on more licorice-inflected aromas, with notes of cinnamon, pristine cranberries, roses, and crushed rocks. Medium-bodied, it has a linear and structured feel, with vibrant acidity and a long finish. It’s clean all the way through, and I love the high-toned notes that shine through this structured wine. It’s going to benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar, then can be enjoyed over the following 15 or more years.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Winery Block shakes off initial matchstick aromas to reveal blackberry, cranberry, wild fennel, citrus and saline. The light-bodied palate is transparent and pure with detailed flavors. It's structured by silky tannins and shimmery acidity, and it has a long, spicy finish.
The 2022 Pinot Noir Winery Block slowly evolves in the glass with a floral bouquet that entices with a blend of rose hips, geranium, dusty earth, exotic spice and wild blueberry. This envelops the palate with ripe red fruits, coming across as fleshy yet refined, as a stream of zesty acidity maintains a fantastic balance. The 2022 leaves a staining of primary concentration and a licorice tinge, tapering off structured, long and full of youthful tension. While brooding and powerful today, I expect great things to come. The Winery Block is a two-acre plot planted in primarily sandy soils.
