The 2015 Pinot Noir Fogstone Vineyard was completely destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks before spending 11 months in 68% new French oak. It has a darker core, with lots of earthy currant fruits, wood smoke and licorice aromatics. It's rich, nicely concentrated and structured on the palate, and is going to benefit from a year or two in bottle.
Vivid ruby-red. Highly perfumed, mineral- and spice-tinged dark berry, cola and floral pastille aromas show very good clarity and lift. Silky and broad on entry, then more taut in the midpalate, offering juicy black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of floral pastilles. Picks up sweetness on the back half and finishes sappy and long, with supple, even tannins framing the exuberant fruit.
