Score 90/100 · Drink 2011-2019, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Oct 2011

The 2009 Pinot Noir The Quarry was sourced from a rocky vineyard unusual for Willamette Valley and made in a 100% wood fermenter. Fragrant spice box, black cherry, and black raspberry aromas inform the nose of a savory, ripe, smooth-textured Pinot with good depth and concentration. It has the balance to evolve for 1-2 years and will deliver pleasure through 2019. Ebony Wines is a new label started by Chris Mazepink, current winemaker at Benton Lane and former winemaker at Shea Wine Cellars. www.ebonywines.com

Bright ruby. Perfumed aromas of black raspberry, Asian spices and candied rose. Supple dark berry flavors show good depth and a lively spicy character, along with a subtle note of cola. Juicy and focused on the finish, which features a bright floral quality. Drinks very well now.
