Drink 0-0, David Schildknecht, Vinous, Jan 2005

White raisin and pungently spicy aromas. In the mouth this displays a compact fruitcake-like melange of dried dates, white raisins, brown spices and marzipan. This enormously concentrated wine-the first at the estate to have been designated BA gold capsule-was just bottled and is almost inscrutably dense. 1 star.

Loads of botrytis, dusty minerals, grass, and smoke are found in the aromatic profile of the 2003 Riesling Beerenauslese Oestricher Lenchen. Medium-bodied, dense, and jellied, it exhibits botrytis-dusted apricots and white peaches whose sweet flavors linger in its long finish. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2030+. Importer: Terry Theise Estate Selections, imported by Michael Skurnik Wines, Inc., Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300
