Tasting notes
From relatively low-lying premier cru soil and old vines, the Dureuil 2005 Rully Clos de Chapitre offers bright red pomegranate and raspberry aromatics, but with jammy and distilled aspects, pungent ginger and citrus rind, flowers, and vivid raw beef bloodiness. There is plenty of richness but also plenty of underlying structure as well as the energetic, brightly penetrating aspects common to all of Dureuil’s 2005s. The fine, long finish adds a mineral dimension to the aforementioned complexities and gives promise of a decade’s worth of entertaining value. Also recommended: 2005 Bourgogne Les Chaliots ($24.00; 86). A Peter Vezan Selection, Paris; fax 011 33 1 42 55 42 93. Various importers, notably North Berkeley Imports, Berkeley, CA; tel.
