Score 89/100 · Drink 2016-2019, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Sep 2016

The 2013 Borrowed, a Roussanne/Chardonnay/Marsanne/Viognier blend, offers good depth and plenty of viscosity. Sweet honeyed notes, chamomile, tropical fruit and buttery notes are all pushed forward. Part of the Roussanne sees contact on the skins, which gives the wine a tannic spine that also requires a bit of aeration.

Even better, with a Condrieu-like profile of caramelized citrus, apricot, flower oil and tangerine, the 2013 Borrowed (Roussanne, Chardonnay, Marsanne and a splash of Viognier) is full-bodied, rich, unctuous and concentrated. Possessing low acidity, it should evolve gracefully on its dry extract and concentration. It’s a seriously good white.
