The deep garnet-purple colored barrel sample of 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Mee Lane (composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is balsamic and a bit funky and earthy on the nose with red and black currants, plums and Indian spices nuances. Medium to full-bodied, it's rustic and chewy in the mouth, lacking precision and finishing a little hard.

Tasted out of barrel, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Mee Lane was brought in on October 13th and will see 28 months in new French oak. It has a ripe, blue fruit character, medium to full-bodied richness, a beautiful sweetness to its tannin and a layered, pure style. I suspect it will drink nicely in its youth, yet it’s going to age gracefully.
