Score 84/100 · Drink 2014, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Apr 2014

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2012 Mazi Syrah is a single vineyard, dry-grown old vine wine made using 100% whole bunches that stayed 40 days on skins and was non-macerated. The nose absolutely explodes with pepper, Provencal herbs and Indian spice notes over a core of red currants, red plums and mulberries, though the light to medium-bodied palate is on the under-ripe side with a medium level of chewy, astringent tannins and crisp acid taking over the herbal and red berry flavors. It finishes hard and tart. Drink it now. Imported by Ronnie Sanders, Vine Street Imports, Philadelphia, PA; www.vsimports.com
