Tasting notes
Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder has a slightly lifted, perfumed style in its incense, black raspberry, black cherry, graphite, chocolate, and savory mountain scrub brush-like aromas and flavors. It's nicely textured, medium to full-bodied, rounded, and has enough tannins to evolve for 15 years or more.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is blended of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4.2% Merlot, 2.3% Cabernet Franc, 0.3% Malbec and 0.2% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, it features baked black berries, cedar chest and earth on the nose with smoked meats and redcurrant jelly plus a waft of potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied with good concentration, a velvety texture and long, spicy finish. This is maturing now.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (Mt. Veeder) is gorgeous. Crafted by Phil Steinschriber, longtime winemaker at Diamond Creek, the WaterMark Cabernet is long on class and Mt. Veeder personality. Smoke, incense, plum and a host of earthy notes all run through this appealing, classically mid-weight Napa Valley Cabernet. With a tiny production of under 250 cases, this is one of the hidden jewels in Napa Valley. Hints of rose petal, cinnamon, mint and sweet red cherry linger on the close.
