Tasting notes
The 2014 Brunello di Montalcino pours from the bottle with such a lean consistency and light color, you might be reminded of a darker rosé that shines in the glass with brilliant ruby and garnet hues. Following in theme, the wine is light in terms of aromas with perfumed tones of rose water, waxy lavender and verbena. The wine is lean and short in the mouth, but there is no astringency or bitterness. Some 50,000 bottles were made. I recommend a short to medium-term drinking window.

Maturing mid ruby with bricky tinges. Soft, brooding nose with hints of dried fruit. Easy-going, soft fruit palate without any edges and with soft powdery tannins on the finish. Rather tame. (WS)
This offers bright and vibrant blue flowers and attractive red fruit, leading to a mid-weight palate with fresh and easy, approachable tannins. Drink in the next five years.
