The 2015 Carbonnieux has a crisp blackberry and bilberry scented bouquet with light pencil shaving aromas developing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a little pinched at the moment but with sufficient freshness on the finish. Not bad, but it needs a couple of years to knit together. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.

The 2015 Carbonnieux is impressive. Dense and powerful in the glass, with layers of fruit and insistent, driving tannins, the 2015 has a lot to offer. Black cherry, smoke, scorched earth, licorice, cedar and game fuse together and all the elements are very nicely balanced in this impeccable Pessac-Léognan.
About the producer
This estate is one of Bordeaux’s oldest, with vines planted here since at least the 13th century. Over three generations, the Perrin family has completely renovated the estate and raised quality here significantly.
