Tasting notes
Deep inky ruby. Powerful and expressive on the nose, with densely packed aromas of dark cherry, plum jam, vanilla and exotic oak spices. Offers a huge mouthful of sweet, rounded dark berry, cherry and plum fruit flavors that are almost improbably fresh and lively. The explosive finish displays a kaleidoscope of berry and spice flavors, with the tannins completely enrobed by fruit.

The spectacular 2002 Shiraz Marcus Old Vine has completely soaked up its French oak aging (50% was new). Its blue/black color is followed by a fabulously rich bouquet of lead pencil shavings, blackberries, cassis, acacia flowers, and licorice. It is a big, rich, classic Barossa Valley Shiraz possessing more finesse and elegance than usual (because of the French oak). This stunning 2002 Shiraz is performing even better than it did last year. Importer: Deborah Gray, The Australian Wine Connection, Carlsbad, CA; tel. (760) 438-5714
