Score 89/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Robert Parker, Jun 2015
The 2005 Cabernet Chris’s Cuvée is played a little closer to the vest. It is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, aged in 80% new French oak. It is even bigger, at 15.2% alcohol, although I don’t think I liked it quite as much as the Caitlin’s Select, which was so sexy. This is good Cabernet Sauvignon, ripe, generously endowed with oak acidity and tannin, but it lacks that extra spark and complexity that one sees in the Cabernet Franc-dominated cuvée. Nevertheless, it is a very well-made wine, juicy, medium to full-bodied and capable of lasting at least another decade.
