Tasting notes
An outstanding effort, with an Old World feel (and there’s probably some brett present), the 2010 Cuvee Constantine checks in as a blend of 55% Grenache, 35% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah. Medium-bodied, rounded and supple, with quality aromas and flavors of blackberry and black cherry fruit, underbrush, wild herbs and saddle leather, it’s a delicious effort that should evolve gracefully for upwards of a decade. The 2010 Cuvee Constantine is 55% Grenache, 35% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah, all destemmed. A big, rich wine, the 2010 flows across the palate with serious depth and pure power. Black cherries, plums, tobacco, incense and smoke emerge over time, but the 2010 needs more time in bottle to become fully expressive. Today, the fruit and pure depth are both impressive and point to a bright future. Red berries, flowers, spices and licorice wrap around the authoritative finish. The 2010 spent two years in neutral 500-600L barrels.
