Tasting notes
Showing better than a year ago as well, with big plum and darker styled fruits, smoke, licorice, tar, and chocolate, the 2007 Head Honcho (100% Syrah) is beautifully pure and polished on the palate, showing a supple, classy texture, integrated acidity, and plenty of length on the finish. This improves with air and should continue to shine for 5-6 years.

The 2007 Syrah Head Honcho is full-bodied, but compared to the El Hombre, plays it much closer to the vest. It is a solidly constructed wine displaying plenty of oak, chocolate, espresso, and deep black currant fruit notes. Spicy, tannic, full-bodied, and structured, it should also drink well for 7-8 years. There are some terrific values in this portfolio from Barrel 27 Wine Company. This is the second straight year these wines from Barrel 27 have stood out as one of the very positive and lovely surprises in my tastings of Central Coast wines. Tel. (805) 237-1245
