Score 94/100 · Drink 2018-2030, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Oct 2017

From a new collection of single district/vineyard wines, Newton's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District reveals a medium to deep garnet-purple color and nose of red roses, cigar box, fragrant earth, cloves and chocolate box over a core of freshly crushed black currants and black plums plus a touch of espresso. Medium-bodied and packed with intense black fruit, cedar and spice box flavors, it has a solid foundation of firm, finely grained tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and perfumed.

Vibrant aromas of blackcurrants with coffee and dark chocolate follow through to a full body with chewy and rich tannins. Lots of fruit and tannins. Give it time to soften. Better in 2018.
