Vivid red. Aromas of ripe cherry and dark berries are complemented by violet, star anise and cracked pepper. Ripe and fleshy but with very good energy to its black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors. Supple and sweet on the finish, offering suave dark berry and floral pastille qualities. This vineyard lies in the Dundee Hills.

The 2009 Pinot Noir Anderson Family comes from a parcel in the Dundee Hills. Notes of cedar, spice box, incense, black cherry, and black raspberry are followed by a tasty, enjoyable wine that is in need of greater depth and concentration, a common issue in this vintage. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. New father Jim Prosser is well-established in his winery on Parrot Hill in the Chehalem Mountains AVA. He is pleased by the fact that he was able to bring all of his 2009s in under 14% alcohol. Tel. (503) 554-0721; www.jkcarriere.com
