Brilliant ruby. Spicy cherry and blackberry aromas are underscored by a vibrant mineral element. Juicy and penetrating, offering appealingly sweet red and dark berry flavors along with hints of star anise and floral pastilles. Fine-grained tannins build slowly on a very long, floral-driven finish that's firmed by gentle, even tannins.

Light cherry red. Entrancing scent that is beaujolais at its finest: delicate, a little peppery and so expressive. On the palate I could take this for burgundy. Super-silky tannins and more red-fruited, just a slightly different texture from Pinot. The finish is dry and long, without any unwanted sweetness. Delicious and revitalising. (JH)
The 2014 Chiroubles was bottled at the beginning of October and has a light red cherry and strawberry nose that just needs a little more fruité. The palate is smooth on the entry, but I feel it lacks a little depth and structure on the finish. It just needs more...brightness...more va va voom!
All destemmed. Shorter and warmer vinification than in Volnay. Élevage done in one year, two-thirds in pièces and one-third in 350-litre ex white-wine barrels. One racking in April and bottled early October. Very lively and fresh. Smooth tannins and enough fruit for the acid. Charming. (JR)
