(aged in 50% new barriques ): Bright red-ruby. Inviting aromas and flavors of blackberry, spices, bitter chocolate and violet. Boasts lovely sweetness of fruit and a pliant texture, with nicely integrated acidity giving definition and lift to the creamy middle palate. Wonderfully sweet but nicely leavened by the attractive natural acidity. Finishes ripely tannic and long. An excellent fruit-driven Washington Merlot.

A blend of 100% Merlot that saw 60% new French oak, the 2012 Merlot Northridge Vineyard is a plump, rounded, sexy Merlot that's loaded with notions of blueberry, violets, plums and graphite. It's hard to resist, and I see no reason to delay gratification either.
