Tasting notes
Black currants, exotic spices, lavender and hints of seared meat create a seductive and complex bouquet as the 2019 Syrah Klein opens in the glass. It's deeply textural, nearly creamy in feel, with a core of tart red and black fruits complicated by hints of citrus and chalk. The 2019 tapers off with dusty tannins that create a pleasantly chewy sensation as tart raspberry hints fade. Simply stunning. The Klein hails form a windy location at 850 feet in elevation, planted in broken basalt. It was refined for twenty-two months in 45% new French oak puncheons.

Darker fruits, black olive tapenade, pepper, and ample leafy herb notes all emerge from the 2019 Syrah Klein Vineyard, a big, smoky, meaty, tannic, and full-bodied Syrah. Coming from a single vineyard located on the western side of the Walla Walla Valley, it will benefit from just a year or two of bottle age and keep for over a decade.
