Tasting notes
(made from the oldest Syrah planting in Walla Walla Valley, dating back to 1986, according to Brennon Leighton): Deep ruby-red. Dark berries, raspberry, smoke and meat on the nose. Then tightly wound and less obviously sweet than most of the 2012 Syrah bottlings, with the dark berry flavors currently dominated by the wine's strong underlying structure. Finishes firmly tannic and classically dry, with a light saline character. This will need time in bottle to open and express itself.

The 2012 Syrah Morrison Lane is one of the more classic, straight and focused Syrahs in the lineup. Showing lots blackberry, kirsch, ground herbs and pepper, it's full-bodied, balanced and even elegant, with plenty of tannic grip. Give it a year and enjoy bottles through 2027.
